My First Book: A Petition to Magic

For as long as I can remember, writing has been in my blood. And for as long as I can remember, I've wanted to publish a story. When I got my iPad at the beginning of 2012, I discovered Kindle books for the first time. Then I discovered Smashwords. I decided the time was now.

My first book, A Petition to Magic, was started in January. It has undergone rewrite upon rewrite, and lots of work and negotiation with an artist friend of mine to get the cover art done. I can finally say, it's done.

It's a short story, around 5 000 words long. Here's a brief synopsis:

The last time Solon the wizard performed magic, something terrible happened. He swore he would never cast another spell as long as he lived.

Now, he faces a terrible decision: break his vow, and risk the loss of an innocent life, or do nothing and see a potentially innocent man put to death.

***

Queen Celeste rose to power a month ago, after the sudden death of her mother.

Desperate to prove herself, she agrees to hear the case of a simple farmer who claims a neighbour stole his cow.

***

In an effort to provide food for himself and his family, Marcus now seeks the help of a new queen. Will she help him in his plight?

Sound like your cup of tea? Well, there are quite a few places where you can get it. First of all, it's available in the Goodreads library, here. If you're on Goodreads, then I humbly ask you to please go and add it to your to-read and other shelves, and mark it as read and rate it when you're done. Every little bit helps!

It's available for sale at the following locations:

Note that on Smashwords, the book is available in the following formats: HTML for online reading, Kindle (.mobi), .epub, .pdf and .lrf formats. On the various Amazon sites, it's available in Kindle format only.

As if those weren't enough locations for you, it's being uploaded to new sites every day, so it may be available in many more places by the time you read this. Google it!

Thanks in advance for all your support. Happy reading!
